Speakers have sought for positive mentality of the countrymen, including parents and teachers, to the adolescents for their reproductive health.
The religious dogmatism and social superstition also two key causes of barrier for learning about reproductive knowledge, they said.
The participants also blamed parents and a section of teachers for their indifference to give of sexual learning parts of text books in the name of shyness, according to them.
They requested to the government and other concerned organizations and personalities to build up sexual awareness programs for the youths.
The speakers said these while addressing in a discussion program titled on “Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE) Amongst Adolescent & Youth in Selected Areas of Bangladesh” arranged by Association for Prevention of Septic Abortion, Bangladesh (BAPSA) in the city’s BCCCP Hall on Sunday.
A Sweden based organization the Swedish Association for Sexuality Education sponsored the program which was moderated by the Senior Journalist Tarik Hasan Shahriar.
The BAPSA Executive Director Dr Altaf Hossain, Director Dr Hedayet Ullah Bhuyain, Project Director Shamima Akter Chowdhury, and others were present, among the teachers, students, experts and guardians.
