Ports asked to hoist Signal No. 3

Under the influence of steep pressure gradient over North Bay and adjoining coastal areas of Bangladesh, squally weather may affect the maritime ports, North Bay and adjoining coastal areas of Bangladesh.
Under the influence of new moon, low-lying areas of the coastal districts of Cox’s Bazar, Chittagong, Noakhali, Laxmipur, Borguna, Bhola, Patuakhali, Barisal, Pirozpur, Bagerhat, Khulna, Satkhira and their offshore islands and chars
are likely to be inundated by tidal surge of 2-3 feet height above normal astronomical tide.
Maritime ports of Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar, Mogla and Payra have been advised to keep hoisted local cautionary signal no three, said a met office bulletin.
All fishing boats and trawlers over North Bay have been advised to remain close to the coast and proceed with caution until further notice.
