The lowlying areas including the newly constructed Akhtaruzzaman Fly over submerged knee waist de ep water following the half an hour’s heavy downpour on Saturday afternoon . According to Patenga met office about 20 mm rainfall recorded from 1.30 pm to 2 pm in the city.

A civil engineer sources said due to unwise planning of installing electric poles in the flyover the situation arised in flyover also. The worstly affected areas are Muradpur, Solasahar No.2 gate, Chowkbazar, Bahaddarhyat, Khatungonj, Agrabad CDA area where public transports remained stranded for few hours. CNG driven transports could not ply during the period of inundation, local eye witnesses sources said.
Executive Engineer of CDA and Project Director of Flyover Mahfuzur Rahman told media persons that large dia sewerage pipes will be replaced instead of existing narrow pipes in flyover for quick removing of rain water.
