Port city busy again after Eid vacation

People who had gone home to enjoy the Eid-ul-Azha with their dear and near one are returning to the port city. Maximum people are returning by inter-district buses and trains. As a result, the huge gatherings were seen at the Chittagong Railway Station and inter-district bus counters in the port city. Salah Ahamed, a government official said, “I went to Rangpur to enjoy the Eid with my family. I came back today and I will join my office tomorrow.” Daisy Alam, a college teacher who went to her father in law’s village home at Munshiganj to enjoy the Eid returned on Tuesday. She told The New Nation that she is very happy to see the condition of four lanes Dhaka -Chittagong Highway and her journey was very comfortable.
 Abdullah Al Harun, a private service holder said, “I came to my father in law’s home in Chittagong and I am going to Dhaka to join my job and my family.” According to sources, streets of port city still wears a deserted look as most of the city-dwellers left for their village home to observe the Eid-ul- Azha, one of the greatest religious festival of the Muslim community during the week long holidays. However, they are returning to port city.
 The week long holidays begun from Friday and ended on Sunday. Most of the people had left for their village homes before Eid. The presence of people in the city streets was rare during the holidays. It may be mentioned that about 80 per cent city-dwellers are outsiders. So, almost all of them went to their village homes during the Eid festival. Only the permanent residents of the city remained to observe the festival. On the holidays, the city-streets looked vacant with a few numbers of people visiting their relatives’ house in the city.
However, law enforcing agencies including Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) took special measures to maintain the law and order situation during the Eid particularly control the robbery during the holidays. Meanwhile, after starting the return of the city dwellers to the port city Chittagong, the city is going to be busy again. Huge gatherings are seen on the roads. The streets and roads are taking busy shape again.
