Court Correspondent :
The Metropolitan Sessions Judge’s Court of Dhaka yesterday fixed August 31 for hearing on a plea of actress Pori Moni for bail in a case lodged under the Narcotics Control Act.
Judge KM Imrul Qayesh of the court passed the order fixing the date on Sunday.
The hearing date was fixed after the High Court Division’s rule of August 26, asking the concerned sub-ordinate court to reply as to why it shall not pass an order to hear Pori Moni’s bail within two days of receiving the High Court order.
The apex court in its rule also asked as to why it shall not quash the lower court’s August 22 order that had set September 13 for holding a hearing on the actress’s bail plea in the Narcotics Case.
Pori Moni’s lawyer Advocate Mozibur Rahman filed the bail plea on August 22 and the Metropolitan Sessions Judge Court had set September 13 for hearing. The defence later moved the High Court with the bail plea.
Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) detained Pori Moni on August 4 from her Banani flat and allegedly seized huge amount of foreign liquors and different drugs from there.
