Popularisation of science-based education stressed

Speaker underscored for popularising the science and information and communication technology (ICT) based modern education among the young students to accelerate national development.
The opinion came yesterday at the inaugural ceremony of a two-day Science Fair and National Science Olympiad- 2017 organised by Sadar upazila administration at Chhomir Uddin School and College ground under Sadar upazila in Nilphamari district.
The event is being arranged in observance of `The 38th National Science and Technology Week-2017′ to encourage the students in science and technology-based education for more innovations to attain sustainable national development.
Young student-scientists of different secondary level educational institutions have set up 24 stalls in the fair displaying research activities, small-scale scientific innovations and successes achieved through digitisation and using ICT and computers.
Nilphamari Sadar Upazila Chairman Abuzar Rahman inaugurated the fair and Olympiad as the chief guest with Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Sheikh Mohammad Belayet Hossain in the chair.
District Education Officer of Nilphamari Shafikul Islam and Sadar Upazila Secondary Education Officer Ahammad Ahsan Habib addressed the occasion as the special guests.
Taking part in the discussion, the speakers put emphasis on spreading science- and ICT- based modern education for speeding up development in building a middle income digital Bangladesh by 2021 and a developed country by 2041.
District Education Officer Shafikul Islam said the nation could achieve developments in all sectors through adopting science, technology-based education and digitised ICT in educational institutions at all levels.
