Poor patients given grants for treatment in Chandpur

On behalf of the Ministry of Social Welfare, Chandpur District Samaj Kalyan Office at a simle function held on Monday handed over an amount of Tk 11 lakhs to 22 poorer and seriously ill patients for their treatment as they have long been suffering much from serious diseases like – cancer, kidney, liver chirhosis, paralysis and congenital heart diseases.
When contacted, the Deputy Director Rajat Shuvar Sarker has told the New Nation that each of the patients was given Tk 50 thousand for treatemnt as Government grants.
Held at the Deputy Commissioner’s Conference room with the Social Welfare District Unit’s Deputy Director Rajat Shuvra Sarker in the chair, DC Md Majedur Rahman Khan handed over the cheques as chief guests to the patients.
Swadinota Padak winner Dr Syeda Badrunnahar Chowdhury, freedom fighter and District AL General Secretary Abu Nayeem Patwary Dulal, among others, spoke on the occasion wishing the patients quick recovery.
Of the recipients, 13 are cancer patients, 4 are kidney patients, 2 liver chirhosis, 2 stroke-related paralysed patients and one minor girl Sadiya , suffering from congenital heart patient since birth.
Of the patients, seven are female and the rest are men. All are from Chandpur Sadar.
