Polls violence death toll now 22

The death toll in polls violence reached 22 after Awami League (AL) activist Ismail Hossain, 50, succumbed to his injuries at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital on Monday.
He was admitted to the hospital being injured in an attack in front of polling center during the voting of Godagari upazila in Rajshahi district.
Deceased Ismail was the President of AL’s Election Steering Committee at Daogaon union in Godagari upazila.
He was attacked by BNP activists at Palpur Government Primary School polling centre in Godagari on Sunday afternoon, said Abdur Razzak Khan, Additional Superindent of Police, Rajshahi.
Earlier, Merajul Islam, 30, son of late Abdus Sattar and an Awami League supporter, was killed in a clash between BNP and AL men in Pakuria Government High School centre in Jahanabad union of Mohanpur upazila around 11am over capturing a polling centre of Rajshahi-3 constituency, said Rajshahi district Police Superintendent Shahidullah.
Besides, Modasser Ali, 40, Organising Secretary of Awami League No-8 ward in Panchandar union of Tanore upazila, was killed in a clash between BNP and Awami League men over capturing Mohammadpur High School polling station of Rajshahi-1 constituency.
In Chattogram, a student of a local madrasa was killed as result of clash between AL and BNP in front of South Maliara Government Primary school in Jiru Union in Patia upazia.
The deceased has been identified as Abu Sadek, 16, son of Abul Kashem, inhabitant of South Maliara, said Afruzul Haq Tutul, Additional SP Chattogram (South).
Another Jubo League man was killed being struck by brick-chips at Kusumpura in the same upazila,. The deceased has been identified as Dil Mohammad Sadeq, 35, Assistant Secretary of Kusumpur Union Jubo League unit.
Earlier, Ahmed Kabir, 45, an activist of Jatiya Party, was killed in a clash between Awami League and Jatiya Party near Baraitali Government Primary School in Banskhali Municipal area on Sunday.
In Jashore, a BNP’s agent for Jahsore-4 died in an attack of AL supporters in front of Pathalia Government Primary School polling center in Abhaynagar upazila on Sunday morning.
The deceased has been identified as Shamshur Rahman Molla, 75, witness said.
In Lalmonirhat, a voter was killed following a knife attack by the unidentified miscreants near Paglarhat Government Primary School polling center in Rajpur Union under Sadar upazila. The deceased has been identified as Tozammel Hossain, 60, witness said.
In Tangail, a BNP worker was killed by some unidentified miscreants Gopalpur Union on Sunday morning. The deceased has been identified as Abdul Aziz, locals said.
In Noakhali, Nurun Nabi, an Ansar member, was shot dead by some miscreants at Tulachara Primary School polling station of Noakhali-3 constituency.
In Rangamati, Bashir Uddin, general secretary of Kashkhali union Jubo League unit, was killed in an attack allegedly by some BNP activists at Kashkhali union in Kaukhali upazila in the morning. In Cumilla, Bachchu Mia, 35, a resident of Sundial village in Nangalkot upazila, was killed in a clash between the supporters of AL and BNP in the morning.
Besides, a rickshaw-puller, Muzibur Rahman, 35, son of Sujat Ali of Muradnagar village of the upazila, was killed in a clash between ruling Awami League and BNP men at Paschim Belashwar village in Chandina upazila.
In Natore, Hussain Ali, an Awami League supporter, was stabbed to death by his nephew Ratan Fakir following an altercation over casting vote at Samskholsi village in Naldanga upazila. In Narsingdi, Milon Miah, 35, an Awami League polling agent, was hacked and slaughtered allegedly by supporters of opposition (independent) candidate in Narsingdi-3 constituency.
In Bogura, Awami League activist Azizul Islam, 30, was killed and five others were injured in a clash between AL and BNP activists at Bagil polling station in Kahalu upazila.
In Brahmanbaria, Israil, 19, son of Sayedul Islam of Rajghar village in Sadar upazila, was shot dead ‘in police firing’ during a clash between supporters of AL and BNP Brahmanbaria-3 constituency.
In Cox’s Bazar, Abdullah Al Faruque, 25, son of Abul Kalam of Rajakhali union in Pekua upazila, was killed in a clash between BNP and AL men in Pekua Police Station of Cox’s Bazar-1 constituency.
In Gazipur, Liakat Hossain, an Awami League leader and former Vice-President of Kazi Azimuddin College Sangsad, was stabbed to death at Harinal in the city.
In Sylhet, a local JCD leader was shot to death during a clash in Balaganj upazila.
In Dinajpur, a eneral voter died during tension between supporters of AL and BNP in Sohogram Government Primary School under Dinajpur-2 in the afternoon. The victim Kina Mohammad was about 65.
In Noakhali, a member of law enforcement agency was killed by activists of Oikyafront in Tulatuli Government Primary School, under Noakhali-3 constituency. The deceased was identified as Nurunnabi, a member of Ansar force. He was killed in clashes that took place around 12:50pm.
In Brahmanbaria, the House of Jatiya Oikyafront candidate seat Brahmanbaria-3 was attacked, vandalized, looted allegedly by Bangladesh Chhatra League men on Sunday. Two of his cars were also torched during the attack, reports our Brahmanbaria correspondent.
