A festival like atmosphere has been prevailing in Nine upazila in Khulna centering the upcoming fourth phase 5th upazila parishad election.
Centering the fourth phase of March 31, 2019 elections, euphoria has gripped the Upazila dwellers specially creating enthusiasm among the voters both males and females.
Meanwhile, poll fever also has gripped in Rupsha, Digholia, Dakop, Paikgachha, Koyra, Batiaghata, Dumuria, Phultala and Terokhada upazilas in Khulna. The candidates, distributed leaflets with symbols and photographs of the candidates printed in them among the voters.
All the contenders are busy meeting the voters since the morning to late night despite biting of cold to get support from them and have been passing restless day.
Meanwhile, the law-enforcing agencies have taken adequate security and other need-based measures to avert any untoward incident relating to the election campaign.
In Koyra, Awami League led 14 party alliance backed candidate G M Mohsin Reza, who is also general secretary of Koyra upazila unit is facing tough contest with AL rebel candidate GM Shafiqul Islam.
In Digholia Upazila, three candidates are contesting for chairman post. They are Khan Nazrul Islam, Labor-related secretary of district unit AL, Sheikh Maruful Islam, and Mohiuddin Mollick.
In Dumuria, five candidates are contesting for chairman post. They are -AL backed Mostafa Sarwar, BNP’s former general secretary of Shahosh union Md. Mahbubur Rahman, Workers Party’s Dumuria upazila unit President Sheikh Selim Akter Swapon, union Awami league member Gazi EzazAhmed, upazila Al vice-president of AL Shanewaz Hossain Zoarder.
In Dakop, two candidates are going to vote battle in the post of Chairman. They are – Upazila AL President SM Abul Hossain and Gourango Proshad Roy of Workers Party.
In Paikgachha, four contenders are Chairman candidates. They are – AL backed Gazi Mohammad Ali, Md. Rashiduzzaman, Sheikh Abul Kalam Azad and Sheikh Monirul Islam.
In Rupsha, four candidates are fighting for the post of Chairman. They are – Firoz Mamun of Jatyo Party, AL backed Md. Kamaluddin Badsha, NPP’s Md. Zahiruddin and Independent candidate Sheikh Sawkat Ali.
In Terokhada, three candidates are contesting for the post of Chairman. They are – Rebel candidate of Awami League Md. Mostafizur Rahman, Md. Shahidul Islam and Sarfuddin Biswas Bacchu.
