BSS, Dhaka :
Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu yesterday said politics should be free from violence for the sake of democracy as well as continuation of development in the country.
“There is no room for violence in politics. So, politics should be free from violence and terror activities to keep our democracy safe,” he said while inaugurating a painting competition for children at Bangladesh Public Service Commission secretariat.
Chairman of Bangladesh Public Service Commission Iqram Ahmed and Secretary Shajahan Ali Mollah, among others, spoke at the function with member of the commission Dr Mohammad Sadiq in the chair.
Inu said ‘lobbying culture’ must be stopped in the recruitment of the government services to ensure efficient and dynamic administration, which is very much important for expediting development as well as establishing rule of law in the country.
“If we want to keep our democracy safe, we must have a strong administration, which could be ensured by recruiting meritorious students,” he said.
“We have a glorious cultural diversity of thousand years, where people of all faiths and ethnic groups have been living with happiness and peace. So, people of the country will not allow communal and militant forces to grow to keep our heritage of co-existence intact,” the information minister added.
Inu urged the pro-liberation forces to be united with the spirit of Liberation War to root out communalism, militancy and terrorism from the society aiming to build a happy and prosperous Bangladesh.
