CENTERING marital dispute a father and his daughter were killed in the city’s Badda locality after 12 hours into the murder of a mother and her son in another incident in Kakrail area of the metropolis. Media is flooded every day with news on murder, kidnapping and such other deaths from human brutalities mainly resulting from family quarrels, disputes on property with neighbours and factional contest among ruling party men for control of business in respective localities.
The killing of the father and daughter at Badda has taken place reportedly as a sequel of illicit relation of the wife of the victim with another man. This is horrendous that can’t be allowed to happen. But anti-socials are taking advantage of their access to a family and carrying out such killing. Police said they have nabbed the woman who was having extra-marital relations with the man and her mate from Khulna by tracking their mobile phones. The woman and her lover strangulated the man and his 9-year old girl causing them instant death in their family quarter.
The dual murder in Kakrail also centered on family dispute where the prime accused killed his first wife and their 17-year old son. It appears quarrels within family with unhappy marital life and growing intolerance are causing havoc in family ties and the two murder cases are just few examples of how hundreds of such unhappy families are falling victims to such quarrels and a major part of it relates to extra-marital affairs.
In one case the victim’s wife, also prime accused, told police that four unknown people stormed their house and killed her husband and daughter. But police believe she is giving inconsistent information and she might have a role in the double murder in Badda. Meanwhile, in the Kakrail case police recovered the bodies of the woman and her teenage son from their Kakrail residence on Wednesday evening. Following the murder, law enforcers took a man, his 3rd wife and two others for interrogation. The victim’s brother says the man has induced his brother to marry a film actress who has killed his sister-in-law as she was insisting to transfer the property to her name.
Those who blame the breakdown of social fabric should go deep into the crisis to understand that it is the politics of violence and impunity that is responsible to commit easy crime. Police are busy in providing protections to the government politically and they have no time to act as a force of preventing crime. The more crimes, the more police cases are good for corruption among police and in the judiciary.
