Police submit probe report over Siddiqur’s eye injury

The probe body, formed to investigate the incident of eye injury of Titumir college student M Siddiqur Rahman following alleged ‘police action’, submitted its report to DMP Headquarters on Monday.
Deputy Commissioner (Media) of DMP Masudur Rahman said the probe committee formed by DMP submitted the report to its headquarters.
Earlier, DMP formed a body to probe whether police had any negligence during the incident in which Siddiqur was injured.
On July 20, a group of students from seven colleges affiliated with Dhaka University demonstrated at Shahbagh demanding announcement of their examination schedules. Siddiqur, a third-year political science student of Titumir College, suffered injuries on his both eyes as police lobbed teargas shells to disperse the demonstrating students. On July 22, Siddiqur underwent surgery at the National Institute of Ophthalmology and Hospital, but doctors said there is a little chance for him to recover fully. He was sent to Chennai of India for better treatment on July 25.
