Police laid more barricades around BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia’s Gulshan political residence by placing 12 trucks early Monday. The sand-carrying trucks were placed on two sides of the office since 12am while additional police were deployed in the area. Police also barring anyone from entering Khaleda’s office since morning. Vehicular movement in Gulshan area was also restricted by law enforcement agencies, while pedestrians are facing frequent frisking by the police, said a UNB correspondent from the spot. The BNP chairperson has been kept confined to her office since Saturday night as she threatened to hold mass rallies in Dhaka to mark ‘Democracy Killing Day’ today (Monday), the first anniversary of the last parliamentary polls that her BNP and its allies boycotted.
