Farid Kawarvan , a sub-Inspector of Kanchpur Highway Police Station was killed in a road accident on highway at Sonargaon yesterday . The incident took place around 5am on Friday. After hearing the news, the Kanchpur highway police recovered the dead body of the SI and sent it to Narayanganj district morgue for autopsy.
The deceased SI Farid Ahmed was identified as son of late Manik Jamadar of the village Gearuk area of Chunarughat thana of Habiganj district.
Officer-in-charge (Investigation) Ali Reza of Kanchpur Highway Police Station, said that Sub-Farid was on duty on Dhaka-Chittagong Highway at Langalband from Thursday night on the occasion of Brahmaputra Bath in the port area.
From the early morning, SI Farid was alerting the sleeping truck drivers while keeping a car on the highway in front of the Castle restaurant in Langalband area to prevent the traffic congestion on the highway to mark the bath.
At that time, a Dhaka-bound covers wagon (Dhaka-Metro-T-18-7040) hurriedly hurled SI Farid. He died on the spot. After receiving information, police recovered the dead body and sent it to Narayanganj district morgue for autopsy.
Police arrested the assailant’s cover-van, but the driver escaped.
