A police sub-inspector was closed over snatching arrested accused by AL leader on Tuesday .
Ujjal Kumar Dey, Mehendiganj police station officer in charge, acknowledging the facts, said Sub Inspector Habibur Rahman, who led the arrest operation, was ordered to be closed to district police line on Tuesday.
He was closed due to his inefficiency in arresting a wanted accused and negligence of duty during snatching the arrestee, the OC Mehendiganj PS told.
Mentionable AKM Ehsanullah, Barisal district police superintendent, ordered the Mehendiganj police to arrest wanted criminal Sabuj Bepari alias Pichchi Sabuj following reports published in local dailies about his criminal activities.
Police arrested him at Aliganj Bazaar at about 11:30am on Sunday.
When police were taking him to Mehendiganj PS, AL activists led by Mawlana Jasimuddin, Dhulkhola union AL president, attacked police and snatched Pichchi Sabuj by injuring SI Habibur Rahman and snatching the camera of a local journalist.
Mehendiganj police on Monday arrested Mawlana Jasimuddin, a union AL president and Firoj Bepari, AL activist and brother of Pichchi Sabuj, after injured Sub-inspector Habibur Rahman lodged a case for snatching arrested accused from police custody.
The both arrestees sent to Barisal jail on Monday afternoon after the judicial magistrate court reject their bail prayer, the OC Mehendiganj PS told.
