Staff Reporter :Chairman of National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) Dr Mizanur Rahman has said it is the law enforcement agencies’ responsibility to find out the BNP leader Salahuddin Ahmed to prove their innocence about his disappearance. “The law enforcement agencies should find out the disappeared BNP leader, if they are to prove that they did not pick him up,” he said at a discussion at RC Majumdar Auditorium of Dhaka University on Saturday. Minority Rights Forum organized the discussion to mark the ‘International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination’.Drawing the attention of Police, Mizanur Rahman said, “You are claiming that you did not pick up Salahuddin and you are continuously trying to trace him out. But we’ll believe it only when you will be able to place him in public or before the court.” “It is your responsibility to prove your innocence about the disappearance of Salahuddin Ahmed,” he added. It is the reality of Bangladesh that the oppositions are always the subjects of repression, the NHRC Chairman observed. “If you belong to the ruling party, you will be gainer. Otherwise, you will face discrimination in every step,” he said. Salahuddin Ahmed, the joint Secretary General of BNP, was picked up by a group of people from a house at Uttara in the city on March 10. Though his family claimed that the BNP leader was picked up by the Police and RAB, none of the law enforcement agencies has admitted his arrest.
