Polls schedule today: Police ready to tackle situation: IGP

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Mohammad Javed Patwary on Wednesday instructed the field-level police officials to maintain the law and order situation by taking necessary measures after the announcement of national polls schedule.
The Police chief asked the police officers, including Metropolitan Police Commissioners, Deputy Inspectors General (DIGs) and Superintendents of Police (SPs) to remain alert as nobody get chance to create anarchy centering schedule declaration.
The IGP gave the instructions through videoconference to eight DIGs and nine commissioners while Additional DIGS, SPs, Additional SPs, Assistant SPs, and Additional Commoners, Deputy Commissioners and Assistant Commissioners as well as other police officials were present.
The police boss instructed the law enforcement personnel at the Conference Room of Police Headquarters (PhQs) in the morning. The DIG (operations) Anwar Hossain, Additional DIG (Special Affairs) Moniruzzaman and other high officials attended in the event.
Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) KM Nurul Huda is likely to declare the schedule of the 11th general national election this evening (Thursday).
The Police chief said that cops will face any unrest situation at any coast if anybody try to show untoward manner after the declaration of the polls schedule.
“No one will be given any chance to deteriorate law and order and create anarchy centering the schedule announcement of national election,” the IGP said.
The IGP praised efforts of the police force for their achievement in curbing the menace of militancy in Bangladesh.”
Police will show zero tolerance to control sabotage, trouble creating and terrorism across the country, he said.
The IGP was informed about the preparation to tackle any emergency situation. He also asked the field level officials to inform about the necessary requirements to the police headquarters.
