Police have stepped in to protect the sculptures and murals of Bangabandhu installed in different areas of Chattogram in connection with the demolition of the Father of the Nation sculpture in Kushtia.
Police were seen patrolling around the ‘Bangabandhu Sculpture’ at the Barapol intersection in Halishahar on Monday and the mural of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on the Oxygen-Kuwaish link road.
According to metro police sources, police patrols and surveillance have been intensified at Chattogram Press Club, District Shilpakala Academy, Jamalkhan, Institution of Engineers, Old Railway Station premises and other places where Bangabandhu’s sculptures, murals and monuments are located. Officer Incharge’s of all police stations have been instructed to strengthen security.
CMP Deputy Commissioner of Police (C SB) Abdul Warish Khan said OCs of all Chattogram Range and CMP police stations were on the ground as per the instructions of the police headquarters. Security measures have been taken around the sculpture-mural.
