Police patiently watching students’ anti-VAT protest, says Home Minister

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said that the Police and the RAB had been instructed to increase their watchfulness on the private university students’ ongoing protests against the government’s decision of imposing 7.5 percent Value Added Tax (VAT) on their tuition fees.
The Minister said this on Sunday afternoon at a press briefing organised by the ministry at the Secretariat.
Asaduzzaman said, “Law enforcers are on alert so that the private university students do not carry out any destructive activities during the movement.” Speaking on the VAT issue, the Home Minister said, “The finance Ministry is looking into it (VAT), while the Police and the RAB are working patiently to avert any untoward incident.”
The crisis will be resolved soon and there will be no more people’s suffering.
