A on duty police official took his own life by shooting from his pistol early Saturday. Police claimed that the official committed suicide on the rooftop of the first floor of the Monirampur police station over family feud.
The dead was identified as Khan Ali Akbar, 55, sub inspector, Monirampur police station hailed from Nowkhiola village Lohagara in Narail.
Mollah Khabir Ahmed, officer in-charge, Monirampur police station told New Nation that the police official committed suicide by shooting in the head from his own pistol around 4:15am on Saturday. ‘The incident took place over family feud on the rooftop of the police station’, he added.
The incident took place while he was on duty, said the officer in-charge.
He was first taken to Monirampur upazila health complex and then Jessore Medical College Hospital where the attending doctor declared the police official dead at around 5:10 am, police said.
