Assistant Sub -Inspector Mizanur Rahman of Agoiljhara police station was injured and admitted to hospital after assaulted by a son and two brothers- in- law of district AL leader and Agoiljhara Upazila Chairman Golam Murtaza on Tuesday morning.
Monirul Islam, Agoiljhara police station Officer- In- charge, acknowledging the facts said Shahbaj Khan, son, Kawsar Haoladar and Nur Hossain Haoladar, brothers in law of the upazila chairman, led the attack.
The son managed to flee, but two brothers in law of the UZ chairman were detained by police in this connection.
Police sources said Amin Haoladar; another brother in law of the upazila chairman was arrested by police on Monday noon as an accused of two criminal cases including toll collection lodged by local businessman Umed Ali.
The complainant received different types of threat after lodging the cases and informed police about that.
So ASI Mizan for further investigation of the cases went in the area on Tuesday morning.
The police official came under attack by the accused when he reached near the residence of upazila chairman at Nagorbari area at about 11:00 AM Tuesday, said Monirul Islam, police station officer in charge.
Police hearing the incident rushed to the spot and rescuing ASI Mizan admitted at upazila health complex.
Preparation of lodging case of police assault under process in this connection, said Akhtaruzzaman, district superintendent of police.
Golam Murtaza Khan, the UZ chairman, said he heard about some altercation between his son and police, but yet not informed details as his son became missing since the incident.
