Chittagong city and district police, in a series of drives, detained 11 leaders and activists of BNP and amaat-e-Islami from different areas on Sunday night. Naimul Hasan, Additional Superintendent of Police (special branch) of Chittagong, said the law enforcers held eight leaders and activists from Lohagara and Sitakunda upazilas to prevent possible acts of sabotage during the countrywide blockade enforced by the BNP-led 20 party alliance.
Chittagong Metropolitan Police also detained two BNP-Jamaat activists from different area in the city in same night.
