Some seven members of police including Kazi Golam Kibria, Office-in-charge (OC) of Mollahat PS were injured when a clash took place between the local workers and supporters of Hefazate Islam and the police at Mollaht Upazila Hospital Mor (turn) in Bagerhat on Monday. At present the situation of the area is calm and quite. The members of the police were given first-aid treatment in the Upazila Hospital. More police were deployed there. But in this connection no body was arrested by the police till the writing of this report.
The injured police members are Kazi Golam Kabir, OC, Mollahat PS, SI Thakur Das, ASI Liaqat Hossain, ASI Baharul Islam, DSB police member Shahidul Islam, police members Sohag Mia and Nazmul Fakir.
Kazi Golam Kabir, Officer-in-charge of Mollahat PS told, as a mark of the protest against the arrest of Hefazat leader Mawlana Mamunul Haq teachers and students of the different Madrasas of the Upazila assembled at the Upazila Hospital Mor (turn). Being informed of the matter a police squad of the PS rushed to the spot and wanted to know what is the reason behind their gathering?
