A police member named MA Latifur Rahman, 30, was killed in a motorcycle accident when a speedy vehicle hit him at the Science-Laboratory area in the capital.
The accident took place at 10:30 pm on Saturday at the Science-Laboratory area on the way home after duty at the North Gate of the High Court Mazar Mosque of Shahbagh Police Station.
It is learned that MA Latifur Rahman, son of Abdur Rahim of Chilmari Thana in Kurigram district. Currently, he lived with his wife Nazma and a child in the Dhania area of Jatrabari.
Confirming the matter, Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) police camp inspector Bachchu Mia said Latifur Rahman, who was critically injured after the accident, was rescued and taken to the emergency department of the DMCH hospital where doctors declared him dead.
He added that Latifur Rahman’s motorcycle was hit by an unidentified speeding vehicle at night and he fell on the road. Pedestrians later rescued him and brought him to DMCH Hospital.
The body of the slain police officer has been kept in the morgue of DMCH Hospital. The police of New Market and Shahbagh police station are investigating the matter, Bachchu Mia also said.
