Staff Reporter :
BNP Standing Committee Member Brigadier General (retd) ASM Hannan Shah has said that police on the one hand are becoming victims of repeated attacks, and on the other hand are losing their morale and professional skill for their involvement in illegal activities.
The BNP leader said it while addressing a discussion meeting at the National Press Club in the city on Friday.
Doctors Association of Bangladesh (DAB), the pro-BNP platform of the physicians, arranged the discussion to mark the ‘National Revolution and Solidarity Day’. The DAB Secretary General Dr AZM Zahid Hossain presided over the programme.
Hannan Shah said although the police showed
their tremendous successes in suppressing the opposition, they are unable to arrest the criminals attacking them.
Expressing deep dismay at the recent killings of policemen and failure to arrest the real culprits, he said, “Police are concentrating on the duties that do not belong to them. They are busy in harassing and torturing the opposition leaders and activists. They have lost their confidence and professional competence for involvement in illegal activities, and for unnecessarily arresting and repressing the opposition men. They are also resorting to crime and extortion. For this, they are losing their skill. So, they are becoming victim one after another.”
The BNP leader says that the people of the country have lost their confidence in the government due to its misrule and misdeeds.
