A police inspector was killed in a road accident in Suwagazi area on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway in Sadar Dakkhin (South) upazila on Thursday.
The deceased was identified as Yunus Sarkar, 50, inspector of Chittagong range reserve forces and a resident of Saguda village in Muradnagar upazila of the district.
Officer-in-charge of Comilla Sadar Dakkhin police station Prosanta Kumar Paul said the accident took place when a passenger-laden bus of ‘Stat Line Paribahan’ hit Yunus in Suwagazi area near Rahat Filling Station on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway, leaving him critically injured.
Later locals rushed him to Comilla Medical College Hospital where on-duty doctors referred him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
He died on way to Dhaka.
The body was handed over to his family on Thursday night.
