Police foiled a procession of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal on the Dhaka University (DU) campus and arrested three JCD activists on Thursday morning.
The arrestees were identified as Al Mehedi Talukdar, 25, an activist of JCD, DU unit , Nayem Hossain, 24, an activist of JCD, Shahabag thana unit and Jisan Ahmed, 25, an activist of Sir AF Rahamn Hall unit of JCD.
Witnesses said, a team of 15-20 activists of the student front of BNP brought out a procession from the Central Shaheed Minar around 9 am.
While they were heading towards the campus police and some Chhatra League activists chased them and dispersed the procession.
Later, police arrested the trio from the area.
Confirming the matter, officer-in-charge of Shahabag Police Station Sirajul Islam said the arrestees were taken to the office of the Detective Branch of police.
