Police have issued a statement with strong warning of bringing the planners and participants in the recent lynchings to book. Meanwhile an exclusive awareness week began all over the country in this regard from Thursday.
In response to recent mob beatings, law enforcers have initiated a countrywide awareness campaign to check the unexpected situations.
It is noted that at least eight people were killed as mob descended upon them believing in rumours of child abduction that had became burning issues recently.
The police are trying to quell the rumours that abductors are prowling the streets looking for children whose skulls are needed to construct the multipurpose Padma Bridge.
Masudur Rahman, Deputy Commissioner ( media) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, told media that police are patrolling in DMP areas have also strengthened to prevent further mob lynching.
Sohel Rana, Additional Inspector General (AIG) of Police told the media that police have launched a special awareness week all over the country in this regard from Thursday.
“Our officials are talking with the all teacher, students of educational institutions’ and guardians, as well as stakeholders, to build awareness and prevent the spreading of the rumours.”
We are also distributing leaflets all over the country in this regard, the AIG added.
