On Tuesday, a group of youths sexually harassed women in public in front of the
TSC and Suhrawardy Udyan gates during the Pahela Baishakh festivities.
Dhaka University unit chief of Bangladesh Chhatra Union Liton Nandi broke his arm while trying to stop the assault.
Many alleged that police were present but took no step to stop the unruly youths. The university authorities also accused police of not doing their job.
Shahbagh Police Station Sub-Inspector Abul Kalam Azad said he filed the case under Prevention of Oppression Against Women and Children Act.
