This Day Live :
The Police have ruled out robbery as the likely motive behind the killing of the Head of Protocol of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Ibrahim Abubakar.
The 43-year Abubakar fondly called Ibro at the football secretariat died from a gun-shot to his head, when some unknown men, attacked him at his quarters in the Kado area of Abuja in the wee hours of Wednesday.
THISDAY also learnt that the security guard manning the block of seven flats was also killed.
Sources last night disclosed that the gunmen shot him via the window to his room and left the compound without forcing their ways into the main flat after achieving their mission.
The fact there was no attempt to remove the car he acquired recently, nor was there an attack on his neighbours, informed police to assume that the likely motive was assassination and not robbery.
The Commissioner of Police, Federal Capital Territory, Wilson Inalegwu, has vowed that the Police would fish out the killers of Abubakar.
Inalegwu arrived at the house at 8.20am yesterday, and after inspecting the scene of the incident and the environment, said the police would do everything to nab those who took Abubakar’s life.
Sports Minister, Solomon Dalung, who paid a condolence visit to the NFF ‘Glasshouse’ in the afternoon, when the news trended early in the morning said he was disturbed by the unfortunate event.
He tasked the security agency to unravel the mystery behind the death to assure the public of their safety.
