Police donates Tk 20cr to PM’s Relief Fund

Bangladesh Police Service Association (BPSA) has donated Tk 20 crore to Prime Minister’s Relief and Welfare Fund as part of their efforts to stand by distressed people in the wake of coronavirus outbreak.
On behalf of the Prime Minister, her Principal Secretary Dr Ahmad Kaikaus received a cheque for the amount from BPSA President and Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Md Shafiqul Islam at the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) on Sunday evening, said a press release.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina received donations from various ministries, organizations and industrial groups for her relief and welfare fund through a videoconference from her official Ganabhaban residence.
Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr Mohammad Javed Patwary, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) Director General Dr. Benazir Ahmed, Additional Inspector General (Admin) Moinur Rahman Chowdhury, Additional Inspector General Mir Shahidul Islam and BPSA General Secretary and Narayanganj Superintendent of Police (SP) Zaidul Alam were present at the PMO.
Taka 20 crore involved one-day salary and Boishakhi allowance of all police personnel from IGP to constable, donation from their officer’s mess and welfare trust.
