Police detain 40 in anti-narcotics drive

The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested at least 40 people in the city in its regular anti-narcotics drive on the charges of selling and consuming illegal drugs.
Different police stations under DMP conducted the drives and arrested the suspected offenders from different areas of the capital city in the last 24 hours ending at 6:00am on Sunday.
During the drive, the law enforcers also seized 6,553 pieces of Yaba, 86 grams of

heroin, 6.7 kilogrammes of hemp, 30 injections, 155 bottles of phensidyl with some other drug items, said DMP Deputy Commissioner (Media) Md Walid Hossen.
A total of 33 cases were filed under the Narcotic Control Act against the suspects with the concerned police stations in the city.
