A police constable committed suicide at Rangamati Hill District Police Line by hanging himself with a rope form the ceiling of police line kitchen room on Sunday morning.
The deceased was identified as Abdul Malek, 46, (CN -573), son of Late Abdus Sukkur Ali Sarker of Chapra village at post office Asasunia in Shatkhira.
Additional police super of Rangamati A K Azad confirmed the incident and told the journalists that constable Abdul Malek have been suffering mentally for long. In the morning other police members saw Abdul Malek’s hanging body and informed the senior officers. In presence of magistrate, doctor and senior police officers the body was recovered and sent to Rangamati General Hospital for autopsy.
An unnatural death (UD) case was filed with Rangamati Kotwali Police Station in this connection. On Sunday evening, the body of Abdul Malek was sent to Shatkhira with police protection.
