Staff Reporter :A clash ensued between the law enforcing agencies and the BSc Dental College (BDC) students in front of National Press Club in the capital on Wednesday morning.At least 25 demonstrated students were seriously injured as the police charged batons and used water cannon to quell the situation. The injured students were later taken to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) for treatment.The law enforcing agencies also detained 12 agitating students, including the Convener and the General Secretary of the association on charges of vandalizing vehicles and illegally occupying the roads during the demonstration. The students detained are Sarwar Hossain Bhuiyan (President), Dipankar Roy (Convener), Ripon Miah, Saiful Islam, Kazi Anisur Rahman Mithu, Akram, Faruk, Abu Hasnath Rony, Newaz Sharif, Sushanta, Debu Mahajan, Mridul Kanti, police said. The demands of the protesters include initiating the admission process by retaining the existing curriculum, arranging registration for practicing after completion of graduation, and introducing similar curricula across the country by extending the course duration by a year. Police charged batons on the students of Dental College on Wednesday when they tried to go to Health Ministry at the Secretariat for submitting a memorandum.
