UNB, Dhaka :Stating that the police cannot be a force of any particular political party, Gano Forum president Dr Kamal Hossain on Saturday bemoaned that ‘unhealthy politics’ has destroyed the country’s election system and democracy. “Democracy and election system have been destroyed through sick politics using the sate power. All the institutions, including the judiciary, administration and police, have been spoiled with politicisation,” he said.Dr Kamal, also a noted jurist, was speaking at an extended meeting of Gono Forum central committee at the party’s Arambagh central office.Referring to unruly activities and corruption by some police members, he said there are allegations of corruption against the police as they are getting psychologically sick. “Police are not our enemies… we’ve must protect them from getting derailed.” The veteran politician asked his party men to spread everywhere the message: “Police can’t be used for political purpose, and it can’t be a force of any party.”According to the constitution, he said all the power belongs to people and they must be allowed to play their due role. Dr Kamal said a unity has been forged among people about maintaining peace, stability, and ensuring good governance the rule of law, independent judiciary, neutral police and administration and terrorism-free campus and society.
