Police campaign against drugs, militancy in Kishoreganj mosques

Bangladesh Police launched a different campaign in different mosques of Dhaka Division in the sermon on Friday. Senior police officials went to the mosque and talked in front of the worshipers about drugs, militancy, sexual harassment, teen gangs, child marriage and, law and order. Dhaka Range Police has started this activity in 98 police stations of 13 districts.
Kishoreganj Police Super Mashrukur Rahman Khaled BPM (Bar) told the New Nation that they informed the worshipers that it does not cost any money to file a case or GD at the police station. In Kishoreganj, we have started this programme in 13 police stations of the district.
Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr. Benazir Ahmed has been talking about starting such a process since he took office. Dhaka Range has already started this activity as part of that process. Dhaka Range DIG Habibur Rahman said that besides the police, ordinary citizens are being involved in crime suppression.
It is learned that a copy of the directive has been sent to all the districts from the Dhaka Range DIG’s office. There, it has been said, Circle Additional Superintendent of Police or Circle ASP, OC or Sub-Inspector who can speak nicely and fluently will go to the mosque and talk about these issues.
After introducing oneself, one has to show respect to the dignitaries and imams present in the mosque. Drug dealers or drug addicts, juvenile delinquents, women abuse, child marriage, brokers do not need to go to the OC of the police station, inform everyone about 999, no money is required for GD case or passport verification at the police station, militants and terrorists, extortionists, thieves, snatchers, cyber The concerned police station should be informed about any kind of crime or criminals including crime, not listening to rumors.
This activity has already started in all 98 police stations of 13 districts of Dhaka range last Friday. Kishoreganj’s Karimganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mominul Islam said, “We have carried out such a campaign in the presence of worshipers in all the mosques under our police station on the instructions of Range DIG. We hope that this process will reduce crime and the general public will be involved in law enforcement.”
Kishoregan’ SP Mashrukur Rahman Khaled BPM ( Bar ) said, “Initially we have started this process in the mosque.” Soon such campaigns will be carried out in all religious places of worship including temples and churches.
Earlier, CCTV cameras were installed in these 13 police stations of Kishoreganj. Those cameras are being monitored while sitting in the Range DIG’s office.
A team led by an additional police super is monitoring the cameras 24 hours a day. Senior officials are instructing the OC of the concerned police station if they see anyone harassing them unnecessarily. This has reduced harassment in the police station. In the new process, the common man will be more involved in law and order.
