Police-BNP clash in Faridganj: 30 hurt

Police and BNP men clashed in Faridganj upazila town on Monday leaves 30 injured including police members.
Police arrested two BNP men after the clash from the town.
BNP MP candidate of Chandpur-4, MA Hannan alleged that police attacked his procession without any reason in the afternoon.
“We have brought out a procession favouring my ‘Sheaf of Paddy’ symbol in the town. But, the police suddenly attacked the procession without any provocation and 25 of our party men seriously injured,” M A Hannan said it at a press briefing in Faridgonj Press Club after the clash.
On the other hand, Harunur Rashid, OC of Faridganj Police Station, alleged that the BNP men brought out procession with arms. So the police barred them to avoid any anarchy. He said, the BNP men attacked on police, which triggered the clash.
Police also fired six rounds of shotgun bullets to control the situation.
25 BNP men and 5 police were injured in the incident.
Police arrested BNP activists Arif Patwary and Imam Hossain after the clash.
