Six policemen, including five Assistant Sub-Inspectors (ASI) of Chuadanga Sadar Police Station, were withdrawn to district police lines on charge of beating several villagers
at Singnagar village in Jibannagar upazila in violation of rules of police force.
They are ASI Md Kamruzzaman, Indrajit Sarkar, Romen Das, Kamrur Hossain, Yusuf Ali and constable Jasim Uddin of the police station.
They did the beating in areas under another police station without informing the senior officials on Thursday afternoon.
There is instruction not to conduct drive in plainclothes, said Superintendent of Police Mahbubur Rahman. Besides, they didn’t inform senior officials.
However, a two-member probe committee headed by Additional Superintendent of Police Tariqul Islam was formed to investigate the incident, added SP.
