The urchins , no one has a father, no one has a mother and no one has none . Some have parents but are separated from their families.
Some of them are flower sellers, some are masks or some are paper sellers but their identity is that they are disadvantaged street children.
Although they can fight for their lives and get food, they do not have any specific shelter or treatment.
Institutional education is like a dream in their life. Some policemen have come forward to fulfill the dreams of these disadvantaged street children.
The initiative was taken by some members of the Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) Double Mooring Police Station.
Agrabad Police Outpost under Double Mooring Police Station and Sub-Inspector (SI) in-charge of BIT No. 62 Arnab Barua, Assistant BIT in-charge Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Mitu Das have started Beat School for street children.
The school has been officially opened in front of Agrabad Children’s Park from November 21. These children are taught various subjects on Friday and Saturday afternoons of the week. In addition to formal education, they are also given moral education.
An organization called Nagarful has joined the initiative taken by the police. Basically, the members of this organization do the work of teaching street children. The members of Nagarful are students of different universities.
Besides, an organization named SSC-HSC 02-04 has stood beside these street children. They gave children winter clothes and educational materials.
Agrabad Ma O Shishu Hospital also stands beside these children. The director of the hospital, Prof. Nurul Haque has announced that they will provide all kinds of medical services to the students of Beat School.
Members of the Lions Club of Chattogram City have announced the gift of bags for Beat School students.
The beat school started with 30 students and now has more than 50 students. Police members gave food and chocolates to these children in classes on Friday and Saturday.
SI Arnab Barua, the founder of BIT School, told media that he understood the issue of arranging education for disadvantaged children by going for various activities of Beat Policing under the direction of Police Commissioner. We see that street children commit petty crimes, some of them involved in theft may involve in a big crime.
CMP Additional Deputy Commissioner (West) AAM Humayun Kabir said, “We have recently started a beat school with disadvantaged children in Agrabad.
If we can educate these children well, they will not be involved in drugs or robbery. He said, “our goal is to get these urchins who will do well from here by enrolling them in regular schools.
