The Election Commission (EC) Secretary Helaluddin said that the clashes took place between police and BNP men at Nayapaltan in the city on November 14 is being investigated by law enforcement agencies as a criminal case.
“It is a criminal case. Only police can handle it. The Commission has asked police administration to investigate it with neutrality and not to implicate innocents,” Helaluddin told journalists after a meeting of the Commission yesterday.
He said, the Inspector General of Police has submitted details including audio clips, video footage and still images of the ‘untoward incident’ to the Commission.
He said, police administration also directed to remain alert so that such incident would not repeat.
