RAB force has arrested a police official in possession of 30,000 yaba tablets in Chattogram.
He was detained from Mirsharai Upazila’s Zorarganj Thana’s Baraiyarhat area on the Dhaka-Chattogram Highway early yesterday , according to RAB.
The detainee has been identified as Abul Bashar, a suspended assistant sub-inspector (ASI) of the Brahmanbaria district police line.
RAB-7 Squadron leader Shafayet Jamil Fahim told media that Bashar was heading to Dhaka on a motorbike and came under arrest based on a tip.
He was carrying the banned contraband in a bag.
“Bashar had served in the detective branch of police at Brahmanbaria district. Border Guards Bangladesh or BGB had detained him with yaba pills a few days ago.
He was released afterwards,” RAB official Fahim said.Approximately 30,000 yaba tablets were found on him, he added.
