Police have arrested six war criminals in Bagharpara upazila of Jashore district.
Officer-in-charge (OC) of Bagharpara Police Station Firoz Uddin confirmed the arrest of the six accused and sent them to Dhaka for extradition to the International Criminal Tribunal-1 on Monday night.
A case was filed against these 6 people in 2017 on charges of crimes against humanity during the war of liberation in 1971. After the case a International Criminal Tribunal team started investigation against them on January 30, 2018.
The three-members of International Crimes Tribunal is headed by Justice Shahinur Islam, the chairman of the tribunal, Issued arrest warrants against them on October 21,2021. On 23 October 2021, the order of the arrest warrant reached the Jashore district police.
The district police authority directed the district detective police (DB) and Bagharpara police to arrest them.
