Police AC will face Shantinagar SC today in the opening match of the Green Delta Insurance Premier Division Hockey League at the Moulana Bhashani National Hockey Stadium. The match starts at 3.30 pm.
Bangladesh Hockey Federation will arrange the hockey competition under auspices of Green Delta Insurance Company Limited.
A total of nine teams will take part in the first phase of the hockey meet. They are: Police AC, Combined Sporting Club, Mukto Bihanga Tarun Sangha, Dhaka Railway SC, Bachelors SC, Shishu Kishore Sangha, Barnak Samaj, Farashganj SC and Shantinagar SC. Top four teams of the first phase will play in the Super Four.
Marking the ensuing hockey meet, a press conference was held at the conference room of Bangladesh Hockey Federation (BHF) on Saturday. Secretary of the League Committee Kamrul Islam Kismat disclosed all the matters related to the hockey competition. Vice-President of Bangladesh Hockey Federation Mirza Farid Ahmed and Joint-Secretary of BHF Monwar Hossain were present at the conference.
The budget of the league has been estimated at Tk 6,00,000.
The champions will be awarded Tk 30,000 while the runners-up will get Tk 20,000 as prize-money.
The participating teams will be given Tk 10,000 each.
