Polash, Rumana emerge champions in Long Distance Swimming

Polash Chowdhury of Bangladesh Navy became first in the Men’s Group of the 13th National Ling Distance Swimming Competition held in the Turag River in Gazipur while Rumana Khatun of Bangladesh Army finished first in the Women’s Group held at the same venue on Monday.
Faisal Ahmed of Bangladesh Army and Ashiqur Rahman of Bangladesh Navy finished second and third in the Men’s Group respectively while Sonia Akhter Tumpa of Bangladesh Navy and Sabura Khatun of Bangladesh Army became second and third in the Women’s Group respectively.
The swimming competition began from Mirzapur Bazarghat and came to an end at the Kodda Bazarghat.
Six swimmers took part in the Men’s Group while six participants competed in the Women’s Group.
After the swimming competition Minister for Liberation War Affairs AKM Mozammel Haque, MP distributed the prizes among the winners as the chief guest. Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Youth and Sports Ministry Zahid Ahsan Russel, MP, Assistant Chief of Bangladesh Navy Abu Mozaffar Mohiuddin Mohammad Aurangazeb Chowdhury, DC of Gazipur District Md Nurul Islam were with him as special guests. General Secretary of Bangladesh Swimming Federation Md Rafizuddin Rafiz, Joint-Secretary of the Federation MB Saif and Member of the Federation Abdul Hamid were present, among others.
