International University Asian University for Women (AUW) has been celebrated the Pohela Falgun the 1st day of Spring Season of Bengali Year Calendar. For the celebration of Pohela Falgun, AUW Graduating Students under the office of Student Activities organized a colorful event namely Faguner-o-Mohonay. Celebrating the day AUW Lane and the auditorium was decorated with flowers. Most of the students, faculty, and officials participated in the events with wearing sari with orange and yellow. Color. The event was divided into two different parts. One is Fagun Fair and Another is Cultural Show.
In the Fagun Fair, 18 stalls including food, cosmetics, clothes, and ornaments made by AUW students were hosted in the AUW lane from 1 pm to 6 pm. And from 8 pm to 9:30 pm a colorful cultural program was organized by dance and songs of students from different countries including Bangladesh. Honorable Vice-Chancellor of Asian University for women Prof Nirmala Rao, OBE, FAcSS and University Registrar Dr Dave Dowland with the faculties, staff, and students were a presence in the celebration program
Asian University for Women Founded in 2008 and located in Chittagong, Bangladesh, Asian University for Women is the first of its kind: a regional institution dedicated to women’s education and leadership development – international in outlook, but rooted in the contexts and aspirations of the people of Asia. Students from 19 countries attend AUW.
A majority of AUW’s students are first in their family to enter university; 98% of AUW’s students are on full or near-full scholarship funded by private donors from around the world. A majority of AUW graduates find employment in the private sector in their home countries while about 25% go on to pursue graduate studies at leading universities like Duke, Colombia, Oxford, Stanford, and Surrey.
