Entertainment Report :
The first international virtual poetry reading event titled ‘Poetry of Isolation’ organised collaboratively by Prachya Review and Tong-Ghor Talkies was held successfully recently. The event was created from Tong-Ghor Talkies official Facebook page and co-hosted by Prachya Review, a literary online magazine’s Facebook page.
While talking in this regard Zuairijah Mou, CEO of Tong-Ghor Talkies said, “We all know that the time is hard for all of us! We believe poets from a different region are trying to express their feelings regarding this pandemic period in writing. This virtual literary event is just a try to bring poets’ from different countries together to the same platform to hold this time through their poems and console the world through poetry.”
Twenty-eight poets from Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, Canada, Myanmar, Italy and other countries participated in this event. They read their poems written during this pandemic period and some poets recited the poems they wrote before but related to this isolation. Their poems show hope, anger, depression, fear, expectation and social obligation.
Shafinur Shafin, poetry editor of Prachya Review, said, “We at first hesitated to start this event because we were scared of thinking of people’s reaction and we were confused of this time is right time to arrange such event or not! Because every day we hear countless death and sad news. We are seeing negative activities like domestic violence, suicide, losing jobs, etc are increasing day by day. We don’t know how or what can free us from all of these! But then, if we see around, hope is still there. And the hope comes from literature, art and any kind of creative works. It’s such a time when staying at home and maintaining social distance is safe.”
