Cultural programmes and discussions recalling on life and achievements of legend Poet Abu Zafar Obaidullah held in his native district Barisal on Saturday night.
The programme was organised by District Administration at Aswhini Kumar Hall of the city and presided over by Shohidul Alam, deputy commissioner Barisal.
Adv Manabendra Batobayal and S M Iqbal, two senior cultural activists of the city, were accorded reception in the programme and a painting competition for the children and juveniles also held on this occasion.
It was addressed among others by Rashed Khan Menon, WP lawmaker Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister and brother of the poet, Adv Talukdar Md Yunus, Adv Tipu Sultan, AL and WP lawmakers, Dr. Ranjit Kumar Biswas, Secretary Cultural Ministry, Md Gaus, Divisional Commissioner, Abul Kalam Azad, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Pankaj Roy Chowdhury, District Children Affair Officer, Shanti Das, WP leader and president Barisal Sangskritik Sangathan Samannoy Parishad, Poet Asma Chowdury, Poet Tapankar Chakraborty.
Besides Murad Ahmed, Azmal Hossain Labu, Imanul Hakim, Kazi Selina, recited poems from the writings of AZM Obaidullah and cultural function performed by Udichi and Hasan Abidur Reza Jewel.
