The river of tears in the afternoon
Original Bengali: Oporahne Osrunodi
-Milon Sabyasachi
After a long period you stood silent in a great festival
merely in the unlimited empty space.
Time rolled on and on in the strange emptiness
through the colorless leaves
of the dying tree branches
where the bats hung downward as usual
in the dead morning!
The sly vultures had already pecked us off long ago like the fallen leaves
Since our day and night of couple life
left us in the flight of great sigh of sad afternoon.
The endless clamorous darkness of the night all around,
morn is yet to come,
none would be able to turn me back,
let me go.
My journey has no end.
Better none but you know.
This is the damaged floating boat –
on the river of tears would be sinking in the dark.
Let me leave silent, a floating light of sorrowful song singing!
