Poribesh Bachao Andolan (Poba) on Friday formed a human-chain demanding to ensure chemical- and poison-free iftar items and adulteration-free food during the holy month of Ramzan.
Addressing the event, the green leaders alleged that every year delicious iftar items are prepared by using burned oils of motor-vehicles, rail-engines, electric-transformer and industries.
The spoiled and tainted foods are available in the market places, triggering various diseases like cancer, kidney failure, liver complication etc, they said.
The government has initiated several laws regarding the matters but lack of implementation and monitoring the consumers are being deprived of its outcome and marching towards a severe health risk, they said.
“If the situation continues such way then the countrymen will turn into a disable nation,” they warned.
