PM’s intervention sought to operate NCT

Berth Operators Association of Chittagong demanded operation of New Mooring Container Terminal(NCT) of Chittagong Port by the local operators.
 Vice President of BOA Shahdat Hossain Selim demaned it at a press conference held at Chittagong Press Club on Thursday .
He sought the intervention of the Prime Minister to resolve the stalemate of operation of the newly constructed NCT.
The press meet was instantly arranged by the BOA after receipt of one decision of the Ministry of Ports and Shipping regarding operation of NCT.
Vice President of BOA is the owner of Berth Operator Averest Enterprise and the joint general secretary of LDP . He supplied a copies of the text of decision of the Ministry to the newsmen in the press meet.
The press meet was told that the construction work of the NCT was completed in 2006 but yet to be operated by any means. The press also told that Prime Minister in the meantime directed the concerned ministry to operate the NCT by the local operators.
He said the uncertainty remains with the operation of NCT till today and the procastinaton prevailing from very completion of the construction work.
He declined to handover the NCT to any foreign operators in exchange of only 500 crores taka . The press meet urged the Prime Minister for intervention in the matter as per her commitment of 2003 to operate the NCT by local operators.
